MVP MMA Gets Turbo Charged

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) is holding its first MMA event on Netflix this weekend. The main event is drawing every kind of fan to watch on the platform that probably has so many subscribers... ...chances are, even if they don't know about it. They're watching. Outside of the main event, there are a lot of great fights on this card. But one in particular is one I'm really excited about, and I disagree with the oddsmakers' pick of Moraes to win. So, get your notebook out and take notes, because I'm talking about one of the best flyweight free agents in MMA. Phumi "Turbo" NkutaHe takes on Adriano Moraes (left), who was the ONE Championship flyweight champ. If you're looking at the above photo and thinking, "He's too small." Remember, so was Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson when he faced Moraes, and he beat him in a pretty spectacular highlight when they fought last. For some context on how he got there, in a late card change, undefeated prospect Nkuta (11-0) steps in after Muhammad Mokaev was forced to withdraw due to visa issues. Moraes is the only man to have finished Johnson in their first match, and possesses world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Nkuta, mentored by Ray Longo, is a grinding wrestler with massive potential. He's got a great gas tank and has the personality to be a star. I don't know why the UFC hasn't picked him up yet, but this might be the best thing for him right now. If MVP is looking to disrupt and he wins, this could be fantastic for his career. I can't wait to step in there and prove that I'm one of the best flyweights in the world, baby. - Phumi "Turbo" Nkuta
