UFC 325. Are you feeling it?

It seems like not too many people are as excited about UFC 325 as they were last weekend for UFC 324.

I am, but more for the undercard because Torrez Finney is on it.

Finney has been fighting a lot at the UFC APEX (not calling it the "Meta Apex"), and he's long overdue to fight in front of a crowd like this. He's fought in front of crowds before, but none at the scale he'll be facing Jacob Malkoun under in Sidney, Australia.

It's been fun following his career, and I've interviewed him quite a few times for Spectation Sports. I was able to interview him for this event, and if you didn't check it out in the last post, you can see it here.

We did our picks on the podcast I co-host and produce, and we remarked on how this one is not as exciting overall as last weekend.

But, when you're thawing out of a big snowstorm, what else are you going to do?

So, we did a preview, and I made my picks. You can check them out here. If you watch the podcast I co-host and produce, when you hear me refer to my notes during recording, it's the Fight Night Companion version on Notion you are probably already using if you're reading this in your email.

If you're reading this online, grab it here (free).

We usually focus on picks for the main card, but I'm writing this to add why I'm picking Finney to win.

It's not just because I've been able to interview and write about him on his journey into the UFC.

It's because he seems to have found ways to win and keep winning even when the odds are against him. He's considered small for his weight class (middleweight), and I think that's why the UFC hasn't really gotten behind him.

He's 11-0, and most of his wins come by way of knockout.

10 or 11 fights is usually when I notice a fighter losing their '0' if they are undefeated, but I think the things that people knock Finney for are his greatest weapon. Everything they think he can't do probably gives them overconfidence, and that's where he catches them.

I could see that working here this weekend, how about you?

P.S

If you're not into Notion, I dropped the notebook version on Amazon for you to grab for a mere seven bucks.
