UFC White House Card is Coming

The UFC event at the White House is what it is.

It's on a Sunday, and if you're a fight fan, regardless of where your politics lie, you're probably going to watch it.

The thing about it is that the event is outdoors on the East Coast.

If you're reading this and you're an East Coast native like me, you know that the weather is never predictable. Very rare are perfect weather days, and in Washington, D.C., during the summer, you could be playing with fire.

Bronsteter is someone who covers every UFC event for a Canadian outlet. So, he's checking the forecast, likely out of concern. UFC President Dana White has always cited concern about the weather, too, when addressing where events are held.

It's why he dislikes stadiums and prefers arenas.

Joe Rogan criticized the lack of a climate-controlled environment for championship-level bouts this week, too.

But, since it's what White's buddy, the President of the United States, wants, they're moving forward with the event.

Temperatures in the 90s in D.C. can feel like 100 because of the humidity. That can affect cardio, make fighters sweat more and earlier, which makes submissions hard to hit.

Fighters with high striking output might get fatigued earlier, too, if they have the slightest respiratory issues in humid weather. I would expect odds to change as we near the event, but these seem to be where they are now:

If you're taking notes, things you might want to ask are:

How will the heat affect Bo Nickal's wrestling? Will it be harder for him to hold people down?

If Ilia Topuria tests Justin Gaethje in striking exchanges, which of their punches wanes first?

We still have a few weeks, and they already have a backup fighter for the main event ( Arman Tsarukyan ). But weight cutting in D.C. for an outdoor event makes you wonder about the chances of needing a few backup fighters.

Hopefully, it goes smoothly.

But in MMA, you never know.

Taking notes on this and other events?
