A few weeks ago, I wrote about other options for fight fans. The first one I listed was bare-knuckle boxing, more specifically, BKFC, since they seem to be the current leader in the bare-knuckle game. Recently, I did an interview for Spectation Sports, which is broadcasting a Fusion Fight League event this weekend. Bryant Acheson is competing in their bareknuckle event. He has fought in BKFC before and plans on winning a title there. The removal of gloves in combat sports makes it more raw and almost taboo to other fighters. Or, it draws them in. Acheson is drawn to it and is undefeated. Something he said to me when I asked him why stuck with me. Acheson said, β I've done professional boxing. I've done MMA, just, there's something about the intensity level of bare knuckle. I believe it's a game of speed and accuracy. It's kind of, I don't know, the sense of urgency to touch them first and not get touched.β He went on to say something about the world we live in, and how more people are looking for instant gratification. Since bare-knuckle boxing can deliver that, that may be what draws the attention of fight fans, too. If you remember when MMA was becoming popular, the comparison to boxing was that boxing was boring, too long, and drawn out. Why watch 10-12 rounds of boxing when MMA fighters can deliver more action in three to five rounds? Instant gratification. We have a lot of options for it on deck this weekend with Noche UFC, Canelo vs Crawford, and more. But if you are looking for some instant gratification of the bare-knuckled variety, you might want to head over to Spectation Sports.
