Some fighters don't need notes.

You can follow certain fighters, especially if they fight often.

Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Kevin Holland come to mind.

Then...

... then there are the ones that show up as often as Hailey's Comet.

They put on a performance that makes you think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, only to never see them again. Or, at least for a while.

Khamzat Chimaev will be out until April of 2026.

If you listen to the podcast I co-host and produce, Coast-2-Coast Combat Hour, I called this after he won the title last August. I'm off by a month because I said March, but it looks like April for his return. Russian journalist Adam Zubayraev reports that his return comes after Ramadan ends, around March 18, 2026, with the camp starting late March for a likely April or May bout against whoever the UFC matches him.

Don't hold your breath

Yes, he's very good.

But his history has shown that, when it comes to fighting far from home, chances of seeing him are slim.

I don't need notes on him or fighters like Yair Rodriguez. Just look at their records since they came into the UFC, and the gaps are big enough to both remember and forget them.

I know this is a bit of a rant, but this is one of those moments where I hate being right.

If you want to read about a fighter, we will likely see be more active than Chimaev, check out this piece on Ethyn Ewing here.
