Scott Coker on the prowl

Scott Coker posted some videos with comments on his trip to Japan and other countries.

In it, he says, “The one thing I found was, one, there is an enormous amount out there. There is more in their slots to fill the leagues that exist. So we took a lot of individuals. There's more internationally than I think I've seen before.”

And you know what?

He's right.

Look at the regional scene

I've been writing for Spectation Sports for a few years now, and the one thing I can for sure notice is that there is no shortage of talent out there.

Almost every week I talk to fighters who see nothing but opportunity out there to test their skills and see how far it can take them. MMA, grappling, bare-knuckle boxing, you name it.

There are people who want to do it, and people who want to watch.

Need more proof?

Gamebred FC gets a broadcast deal

Jorge Masvidal announced over the weekend that his promotion, Gamebred FC, just signed a broadcast deal with DAZN.

DAZN...absolutely sucks for MMA, but that doesn't matter. (I can rant on it on the next Coast-2-Coast Combat Hour)

Signing a deal with them means he can sign another when it's over. Probably for more money as long as someone sees an audience for it.

DWCS Week 3

If you need more proof of talent and demand, the UFC has been doing it weekly, every Summer with their “Contender Series.”

If you missed week three, here’s what stood out to me.

  • Underdogs win more on this platform.
  • Bella Mir is good, but she might need to fight without her father in her corner.
  • Alex Apodaca fought smart, but now that she’s in the UFC, it could be a rough road ahead.

The great thing about this platform, it’s a great place to start watching a fighter's journey and start taking notes on their style with the Fight Night Card Companion Notion template.

If you’re reading this online, grab it here.
